Lunch & Learn Seminar—May 22—If An Emergency Strikes, Is Your Business Ready?—Noon—1PM—Location TBD
The Red Cross Ready Rating program is a free program designed to help businesses become better prepared for emergencies (medical, natural and man-made) at the workplace and help businesses develop a business continuity plan following a disaster. OSHA requires businesses to be able to respond to an emergency within the first 3 minutes, yet the national average response time for EMT is 8-9 minutes. The Red Cross gives employees the tools they need to respond to emergencies until professional rescuers arrive on the scene. Develop or enhance your emergency response plan by outlining steps you can take before, during and after an emergency. Learn how to access assessment tools and resources. In addition, during this session we will actually demonstrate the use of an AED. Judith Bostrom, Preparedness Consultant from the American Red Cross is our instructor for this educational seminar. The Red Cross is the leading provider of health and safety certification courses in CPR, First Aid and AED. We will also discuss First Aid Emergency Drills and how this unique preparedness assessment tool can measure the effectiveness of your first responder team. As businesses train their employees to respond to emergencies at work they take their skills with them into their churches, schools and community events. They may save a life by using an AED at a local sporting event, or help a choking senior citizen at a church luncheon. Lunch & Learn Seminars are free to Chamber Members, but reservations are required by May 17. To reserve your spot, contact the Chamber office at 651-388-4719.
