You heard it here first! 1860s baseball is coming to Goodhue County on September 6 at 1PM. Matches will be played at Wakondiota Park in Old Frontenac. Come experience baseball in its early days. The Goodhue County Historical Society is looking for players to form a team to take on the Union team from around Minnesota. They need at least 6 more players. All are welcome to participate, as long as they are at least 16 years of age, regardless of athletic ability. Rules were very different in the 1860s as compared to today (check http://www.olmstedhistory.com/programs/roosters-baseball/1860-rules/) plus, you do not use a glove! This is completely barehanded but don’t let that scare you. Contact Dustin Heckman at the Goodhue County History Center at director@goodhistory.org or call 651-388-6024 for more information.
